DBSD’s Federal Program's goal is to maximize the impact of grant funds on student achievement through supplemental programs that align with the school board goals.

FEDERAL PROGRAMS PUBLIC NOTICE:
Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Education: Pursuant to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C, 6301 et seq.), below is the hotline contact information of the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Education. ESEA & TITLE I:
The Elementary & Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires states to adopt challenging academic content and standards that apply to all schools and children in the state. ESEA requires states to administer yearly student assessments in math/language arts and report achievements to parents and the community. Title I is a part of ESEA and provides supplementary programs to enrich schools and school district. Parent & Community Resources on Assessments
Parents Rights to Know-Each year, districts and schools are required to provide information and opportunities to parents for them to be involved in the educational decisions that impact their children. The parent engagement requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Education Act of ESEA specifically reflect:

Shared accountability between schools and parents for high student achievement.

Local development of parental engagement plans with flexibility to address local needs.

Building parents’ capacity for using effective practices to improve their child’s academic achievement.
As a recipient of these funds, Denali Borough School District will provide you with this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child's classroom teachers:

Whether the teacher has met state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject area in which the teacher provides instruction.

Whether the teacher is teaching under the emergency or provisional status because of special circumstances.

The teacher's college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.

Whether paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled.
ENGLISH LEARNERS:
DBSD’s English Learner Program is designed to support schools in delivering equal education opportunities for students who speak a language or languages other than English, or who have a language other than English in their home. The program’s goal is to assist students to attain English proficiency and succeed academically. We recognize that students’ language, heritage, and culture all contribute to student learning and are committed to reducing barriers so that all students can fully engage in district programs and services while preparing for academic success.
English Learner Education & Title III-A
TITLE VI INDIAN EDUCATION PROGRAM:
DBSD’s Indian Education Program supports enrolled students with active IE 506 forms at our schools. Services may include culturally integrated learning and academic supports.
