The Denali Borough School District curriculum committee consists of leadership team members and teachers from each school site. This committee reviews content standards, instruction and assessment practices, and materials following an established review cycle and makes recommendations to the Board of Education.
Our approach to curriculum aligns with our mission statement and strategic plan. Curriculum should promote both challenge and joy while elevating student agency, collaboration, voice, reflection, and metacognition. Curriculum should be relevant, developmentally appropriate, consider place-based learning, and provide demanding standards-based, compelling content that allows students to grapple with meaningful tasks and the opportunity to produce high quality work. Curriculum should also integrate supporting development of character in academic learning and empower students to contribute to a better world.
